I agree with the other post. If your syncros are shot, no shop will touch it unless you let them replace all bearings, seals, and syncros, and likely a few other parts while they are in there. His estimate if $800+ is what you could expect. I got a quote of $3250.

Try draining your transmission fluid. If it it is full of gold-colored glitter, our suspicions are confirmed.

I paid $600 for a junkyard tranny with a 90-day warrantee. I replaced my clutch while I was in there. It was a bit of a chore, and I had to enlist the help of a friend to lift the tranny into place.

I read later on this board that I should have replaced my rear main seal while I was in there.

The new tranny works GREAT; better than the original.
