Tips for changing front disc pads on 240 200

Front disc pads started grinding this a.m. I want to do it myself, but have never done brake pads before. Any tips for success? I have a Haynes manual. Don't have time to wait for new pads in the mail from Groton or elsewhere. Any suggestions on what pads? Volvo OEM or local parts store? Do I need to buy anything else besides the pads? Thanks!
