Power Seat 900 1991

Power seat was working fine then the back adjustment stopped working---would only click when the switch was activated. Now, some months later, none of the adjustment work and there is no clicks or noise whatsoever. Hope it's a fuse but haven't checked yet (this happened last night so I though I'd wait 'til Turkey Day to involve mechanically-inclined relatives).

Mechanic told me, when the back adjustment stopped working, that I needed a new transmission or another seat.

Is this true, or can I un-jam the seat and hope it limps along a little longer?

Thanks for any imput!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!
