volvo 244 brake failure

Are you pumping the brake pedal to generate the pressure to bleed the brakes? Sometimes when pumping the brake pedal to bleed the brakes the pistons/seals in the master cylinder travel farther into the cylinder than they normally would. The seals ride over this unused area of the cylinder and are damaged in the process. Rebuild or replace the cylinder and all will be okay. Remember to take short strokes on the brake pedal when it is time to seat the new brake pads and bleed the brakes.
Good luck with the brake job!
