940 Purchase advice

Advice on your GLE (16V B234F).

Watch out for the timing... if you read in the FAQs you will see that a defect exists. The oil pump pulley breaks (typically shortly after the belt is replaced), and kaboom! This engine is interferance design, as opposed to ALL other volvo 4-cyl, incl turbo. The pistons smash into the valves and you get a VERY BIG $$$ bill after that!

If you have not had that 6$ oil pump bolt replaced (labor might be 2 hours) then do it NOW!

It happened to me, and others.. I bitched to Volvo but they didn't care.

Yes, otherwise the B234F is a nice engine.

The turbo wagon (B230FT) is fun to drive too.
