Flame Trap Specifics 200 1982

OK, on the flame trap nipple there is a small vacuum line that runs to the top of the manifold. If I disconnect this line at the manifold, should black smoke be puffing out of the line (well not pure black, but sooty). I could have swarn that I disconncted it once and I saw black smoke spewing out. Now, nothing. My flame trap was just changed, my oil filler cap passes the jiggle test, and I can even feel a little suction when I place my hand over the oil filler hole. Is every thing working right?? I probably should have replaced the oil seperator when I changed the wire harness last week huh??

THanks,
Matt
