Making sure it's a LSD

While you rotate one wheel, if the other rotates in the same direction, it's a "No Spin." If the other rotates in the opposite direction, it's a normal, "open" differential.

The 'No Spin' diffs carried a sheet metal tag attesting to that fact attached with one of the cover bolts, but over the years the tag may have disappeared.

Be aware that the No Spin diff requires regular gear lube PLUS an additive. Volvo will sell you the stuff for about $20, but my local parts emporium had the "GM and Ford approved" limited-slip additive for about $5 (came in a tube of about 1 pint volume).
