Volvo radio extraction

On my 89 245, I just unscrewed the two screws and carefully slid the radio out. But because of the bundle of wires connected to the back of the unit, I was not able to move the radio completely out of the housing area. My radio is dead, but I know it's in working condition. The PO had an after-market system but removed it and replaced the stock unit upon selling it. It appears the bundle of wires are all connected but the silver (speaker?) wires are not--there are four severed wires (I have 4 speakers) that are not attached to anything. Where do they go? Also, I'm assuming the unit has a bad fuse because the radio does not turn on despite having all wires connected. How do I change them?
