84 760T ECT sensor question 700 1984

My trusty Volvo started runnning roughly recently - mostly at idle. I did the basic idle set procedure to no avail. The car then started idling with a distinct "hunting": then simply quit running. Whenever I try to move the throttle plate off the stop, it acts like it is flooding, coughs and then idles very poorly. I checked the ECT: at about ambient temp. here of 72 degrees, it shows no continuity when I select the 20k range, and 32 when 200 ohm range is selected. The FAQ page indicated it should read roughly 2300 ohms.

Does a faulty ECT react this way? Thanks in advance for any helpful tips.
Rob
