What's normal oil consumption for B230F engine?

I have an '88 740 (227,000) and a '91 240 (127,000). Both, of course, have similar b230 engines. The '88 will use about 1/2-3/4 qt. in 3000 miles, while the '91 uses absolutely no oil between changes. I think the '91 is the exception, with the '88 which uses about what yours does, being much more normal. (I use 10w-30 Castrol . . . always have).
