wagon woofers 200

Anyone out there have experience/success putting woofers in a 240 wagon?

I'd like to some in mine but can't come up with a good placement. You see, building a box that's going to take up cargo space is a no go. I want to maintain the utility of the cavernous rear cargo section so I'm going for a built-in approach. I can easily get one 8in woofer in the passenger side compartment but the spare tire is on the other side. I've heard that woofers can be mounted singly because your ear cannot detect the placement of the low frequency tones. Is this true? Anyone have a single woofer setup that they are happy with?
