afternarket radio installation question. 700 1991

Tomorrow I'm picking up my new (to me) '91 740 wagon. Since I'm impatient, I already purchased a harness adapter to install my Pioneer head unit in the car. The guy who sold me the adapter said that the rear speakers are amplified by an external amp, and that I'll have to wire the rear speaker leads of the radio after the amp. Sounds easy enough. My question is where is the amp and what color wires am I looking for? Also, it appears the radio opening is standard DIN sized. So should I just be able to pull the factory radio out and put the Pioneer in without any installation kits?

Also, what sizes are the speakers for the dash and front and rear doors?
