Tach sensor wire 700 1986

I'm wiring a car alarm/remote start and I'm having trouble finding the tach signal wire. In Cliff8928's post, he said the wire is red/white and it's located at the dash tachometer. I found a couple red/white wires back there. The installation guide said to test the wire at with a multimeter set to 20v ac and it should read 1-6 volts depending on engine speed. I tested those red/white wires I found and consistently got about 25v ac. Then I tried to test all of the wires that hook into the instrument cluster. I never found one that read 1-6v. Can anyone tell me where the wire I need to use is and what it looks like (type of connector, colors, etc)?

Also, I haven't looked yet, but where are the door switch common wires? I need them to wire with the alarm.

Thanks,
Nathan
