Upper transmission cooler line removal (without breakage) please help! 700

Hello to all Volvo gurus!

I have a question. What is the easiest way for me to remove my upper transmission cooler line at the top of the radiator without snapping the line? I have tried to hold one part of the connecting line with a wrench and tried to turn the nut connection, and all i get is the line begins to piviot on me. Would it be wise to just cut the line, leaving enough slack to add a peice of transmission rubber line (Hayden Heavy duty tranny line) as a go between, say 4-6 inches? I would like to save money and flush it myself, my fear is that the dealer may charge me well over $100.00 dollars, and or Valvoline Quick oil change may screw up my Volvo!! Also i have an allen wrench tranny drain plug. What are the difficulties of removing/re-installing these. My 88 740 wagon doesn't have this type of drain plug(possible ZF A.T.)

THANKS IN ADVANCE
