86 240gl not starting 200

ok i've got an 86 240gl that had been sitting off and on for a year. during this time the battery went dead and the car was having to be jumpstarted. and would start right up and run fine. well i replaced the battery yesterday and know the car won't start it just cranks and cranks but won't catch. i checked the gas tank and the fuel smelt bad and the tank was almost empty so i poored in 3 gallons of fresh gas and it still cranked and cranked. I need to know what to look at that could cuase this.
