With passengers, Rear wheel rubs fender.... 200

Yeah... bought this '83 245gl about two months ago, swapped the custom 15" rims from the Bertone... the tires are size 225/50/15 - so they're pretty wide.

I had to put 7/32" wheel spacers on the insides of the rims to keep them from rubbing the inside of the fenders; this past weekend was the first time I have actually carried any passengers since I bought the car.

What's odd is I only get the rub on the rear passenger side when I go over a dip...

I don't really want to put overload springs on this old brick... I wanted to put the sport springs on it... but this fender rub isn't friendly...

would it be a super bad idea to trim the inside of the fender (that 1.5" piece of trim that extends into the wheel well)??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

keep on bricking!

-Michael
