Makoona - I have an update regarding your earlier oil leak thread 200 1990

Think I found the source of my oil leak problem. You might want to check this out...

After stuffing myself on Thanksgiving, last weekend I finally got around to cleaning my flame trap again and testing the breather box (ie. spent 2 days trying to find the little sucker!!! - just kidding...).

Pulled the trap, all hoses and cleaned and examined them. Also cleaned out the little nipple on the intake manifold. Checked breather box with car idling - okay. Put it all back together. As the car was idling, scratched my head and said "what gives"? Realized that the small hose from the flame trap to the intake was pretty hard although it didn't seem clogged. Took it off, vacuum was there. Checked the small hose again and sure enough it was clogged after idling for just a few minutes!!!

Went to the parts store and replaced it with a .59 hose. Hope that cures it. A lot cheaper than a $500+- rear main seal replacement in a shop. Will post back once I can confirm that stopped the leak. Motto of this story - check the small hose, if even partially clogged replace it.

Did you still have the a spare oil cap gasket? If you can send one to me that would be great!!! Post your email address or you can send me your email address at Great_Island@Hotmail.com

Many Thanks,
Jim
