Thanks for the reply.

I was under the impression that the alternator should keep the voltage > 13 v regardless of engine speed (hence the voltage regulator)?

With my previous 745 and 244 the voltage stayed pegged at 14.5 that's why it seems troubling that one the 'new' 745 the voltage drops below 12v at idle?!?
