1989 245 Tranny?/swap 200

Hi all.

Transmission will not shift out of first until car has been driven 1/2 mile or so. Seems fine after that (although a little sluggish). Oneinteresting thing seems to be that the tranny oil (which is normal in volume and colr) is not getting very hot...granted it is in the teens here in Illnois, but after 20 minutes..it's pretty cool to the touch. I and the family (4 adults) just pulled an "over the mountain trip" with small trailer in tow (1000 lbs). Afraid I may have fried something.

My questions to the board? Does this sound familiar? Is there any vacumn control that I did not see when I changed the rear main seal? If the thing needs "professional attention how much will it cost?

What is the advisablity of trying a 5 speed manual? I would rather shift!

Thank you
