Experienced replacers of famed PNP switch....

I replaced mine (94 960) in the garage with the car on jack stands. I did it without disconnecting the exhaust. It was tight getting the old switch off the shaft, since there's not much clearance. But I was able to remove it without disturbing the exhaust. I did have to disconnect one of the trans cooler lines to get the required clearance. Be prepared to cap the end of the line to prevent loss of trans fluid when you disconnect. I used Saran Wrap and plumber's putty and a rubber band. Seemed to work OK.

The wire tie on top of the transmission was a bit of a problem for me. I didn't know how it was configured, and couldn't see up there. Had to feel around and cut the tie with dikes. That was the hardest part for me. Someone with knowledge and experience wouldn't have that problem, though.

Good luck. It's well within your capability to do it in your driveway.
