Intermittent Whine 200 1988

I have started hearing a whine while driving the 240. It appears to be coming from the rear-end but it is not constant. I will occasionally hear it during slow turns right or left but this is infrequent. At highway speed I don't notice any noise at all (but this may just be a factor of wind noise covering it). One additional point is that I had not noticed this until the weather got colder recently (25 degrees F). Does anyone have any thoughts on tracking this down and/or possible fixes?

Thanks in advance for your help,

jdm
