Every buyer and seller has the expectation (wish) that everything is in good repair. If something goes wrong after sale that is the buyers problem. It is implicit in any sale that the car is sold "as is" and unless something else was specifically agreed to the seller owes the buyer nothing. Only at his option should he repair something after the sale. A used dealer may decide to extend some consideration to a buyer on an "as is" sale out of courtesy, kindness, or his reputation. A private seller has to make his own decision on what is right.

Of course all of the above assumes the parties have positive ethics.
