rubber windshield gasket? 140-160 1968

I've got 2 68 140s (144 and 145).

Both have leaky windshields.

Through luck and effort I've located 2 rubber windshield gaskets
for this year car.

I've got a couple questions:

is replacing this a job I can do myself in the parking lot of my
apartment complex where they already hate "that crappy old car guy" ?

does anyone know the proper order for installing these things? I'm
assuming it is something like

fix any rust that may be starting
trim into gasket, glass into gasket, gasket+glass+trim into car
use lots of soap

can I use any standard windscreen for a 240?

I'm not sure I trust this job to a standard car glass place -- I'm
pretty sure they won't want to bother with installing the aluminum
trim.
