trying to figure what my car is 900 1995

i just bought a 95 940
i'm not sure what it is, i went to my local volvo dealership with the vin # to get an original "volvo" key for it which it didn't come with

my volvo mechanic told me it was an SE, but the dealer said it wasn't according to the vin, which prompted us to take a look at it

it's a 960 body with a b230FT4 engine, but according to his computer the 940SE's looked like the newer 960's and where only sold from 91-92 he said.

sounds fishy

but he said my car could have been a custom car from the factory (which is cool) but i suppose i'd like to know if they made 940SE's in 95 that looked like common 940s.

all this b/c he said the 940se's had a key like my 850 and 940's had a key like the older 740's.

turns out it wasn't a "laser" key like on the se models it's a standard key.

i wonder what i have? an se or not?
it's got 960 suspension, turbo engine, and 740/940 front (not like late model 960's) and just says "940" on the back.

confused.
