Soundproofing material for 240? 200 1988

Living in Texas, you quickly realize that anyone doing less than 70 on any freeway (regardless of marked speed limit) will get your a** run off the road REALLY FAST. I love my 88 DL brick but it gets LOTS of road noise. What are the suggestions for making a quieter car at such high speeds. What I'm hearing isn't wind noise but more a low rumbling. Doesn't sound like bearings or U-joints or anything characteristic. I did notice when installing the power window harness that there's very little in the way of padding underneath the carpet. Does the GL have more sound deadening material? Where can I get some heavyish blanketlike stuff that you find in domestic makes? Anything I can strip off of other Volvos in the junkyards that might help?

Thanks!
Mike C
