Absolutely correct. Terminal 54 is powered when the key is in the "IGN ON" position...and isn't that BY DEFINITION when (and only when) you want to apply power to the ignition, be it OE or otherwise?

I expect someone with a dead IGN switch-cable-coil assembly, which they can dissasemble for a close inspection, to find that the protected power wire traveling down the armoured cable is probably be connected to this terminal inside the switch.

If you find that hook-up diagram on IPD's site, please post the URL. I'd love to take a look at it.
