Pertronix/Coil mod 120-130

Hi Ron -

The instructions are linked to the Perlux Ignitor, under rear wheel drive, then electrical components, then 'electronic ignition by perlux'.

Here's the link: http://www.ipdusa.com/pdf/PI-023pertronixignition.pdf

If you have 12v only when the ignition is 'On,' you won't have 12v when the key is in the 'Start' position. ipd sells the 'diode wire' to allow the ignition to receive 12v both when the starter is engaged and 12v when the key is in the 'on' position. Easy enough to make your own diode wire if you prefer to not buy one from ipd.

When I first experimented with the perlux, I connected the ignition to 12v 'on' and the car wouldn't start with the starter, but would compression start. Connecting to the 'start' terminal allowed the car to fire while the starter was engaged, but it wouldn't stay running when the starter was released.

I think the wire inside the armored cable is likely connected both to the 'on' terminal and the 'start' terminal.

Thanks --
