Pertronix/Coil mod 120-130

ikiller;

That's the "diode wire" which Cameron writes of...although I don't quite understand why the IGN switch removes power from terminal 54 during cranking...maybe to minimize voltage drop due to other loads drawing current during starting attempts. What the "diode wire" does is: It "Or ties" power to the unit, that is...the Pertronix unit gets power from either the IGN terminal (54) OR the START terminal (50).

...I'm certain the power is not removed from the wire running down the armored cable during cranking...it's powered in BOTH positions. The "diode wire" is an effective solution when installing the Pertronix unit, because with it, you don't need to cut into the armored cable...slick!

Quiton D. might want to chime in on this...he had a diode wire fail with similar symptoms.

Does anyone have a dead switch they would donate for a carefull dissassembly and engineering evaluation?

Cheers
