Water Pump and Metal Heater Pipe 200 1985

Well, I noticed the temperature of the heat and the temperature gauge on my 1985 240 being rather cool. I figured maybe the thermostat was stuck open and that was making it run cold in this cold weather. Then today I noticed the oil light dim out rather than go out right after I start it. Not good, I know. Well I go home today and smelled burning ethylene Glycol and looked under the hood. It appears that the Metal pipe that fits into the back of the water pump is squirting to some degree coolant on my oil pressure sender and the alternator. I know there is an O ring there but is there anything I can do here other than new water pump. Do you guys think some blue RTV around the joint there would hold for at least a while? Thanks all.
