760 B 280 F 1988 poor acceleration, "KNOCK" SENSOR ? 700 1988

I have a Volvo 760 1988 with 220,000 KM. The motor is running fine at idle and low speed, but when I try to get more 3000 rpm it gradually loose its power. If I push the pedal more, I ear a strange noise (mixted with ''pinking'') from the motor and I wont get more speed any way. The only way I can get more speed is to accelerate very very slowly, but still no torque.

More recently I started to get an exhaus leak that sounded like a very loud air blowing on acceleration. I replaced the font catalytic ''donut'' gasket, and looked inside for any sign of restriction. It looked a bit dirty here and there but nothing very bad... The other problem I have is a leaking oil seal in the distributor. I will now repair the leak, but to me it sound like a bad catalytic converter.... Any advice would appreciate.

Thanks

I checked the catalytic converter according to the procedure in the ''faq''. With an infrared thermometer I was able to register a 50 to 60 deg F difference in between the front and the rear of the converter.

I am now turning my attention towards the "knock" sensors. Because one the symtom I also have, is a higher fuel consumtion in cold weather and a slugish acceleration that get worst aproaching 3000 rpm.

My ignition system seem to be a EZ 115K. The two "knock" sensors seem to be located underneath the intake manifold and I can not see any way I can replace them without removing the manifold. Is this the right way?

Thanks for your help.
