throttle cable funkiness 200 1987

For the past while I've been having some intermittent problems which I originally thought to be transmission or cat. related. When accelerating sometimes there would be a slow hesitation then it'd feel as someone pushed the car forward. As there was no increase in RPM's I figured it probably wasn't the tranny slipping. Upon inspection last night I noticed the throttle cable sheathing was torn right where it goes into the firewall and with the car off I pressed accelerator and it did not feel too smooth or steady.

I suspect this could be my problem but thought I'd post to see if any others have had similar throttle cable problems in the past. Seems like a breeze to replace.

thanks

Kirk S.
