Beware! coolant expansion tank 900 1993

I know this is covered in the FAQ, but I thought I'd offer a first-hand, graphicly-illustrated experience w/ rotten cooling system plastic.

Today I replaced the coolant expansion tank on my '93 945T. It had developed a very small crack in the top... it bubbled a bit when the engine was hot. When I pulled the outlet hose off the bottom of the old tank, the bottom 1/4" or so of the plastic crumbled and fell in the hose. Also, one of the interior plastic walls had broken, and a chunk was floating in the tank.

If your brick is 8+ years old, and you're doing cooling system service (rad, hoses, etc), don't forget the expansion tank!
