After getting a Bulb Failure Warning Light (BFWL), from the dash, I eventually got a replacement bulb from Volvo. Actually, this BFWL came on before a few times, and after I checked the lights, they all worked, so I figured it was a fluke of sorts. This time the BFWL is correct and is working properly.
But after I installed the new bulb, and drive anyway the BFWL came on again. I pulled over and checked the bulb, but it seemed to be in place correctly. The fuse was ok (duh, why did I even bother to look - the left brake light works fine). In fact, all the rear lights work except for the right brake light.
I then touched the top glass part of the bulb and it suddenly came on. I then bent the connecting prong on the bulb assembly housing up a bit figuring it was not making enough contact (lack of pressure) on the bulb, or was loose. Drove away again but the BFWL came on again. I took the wiring terminal connector off and sprayed DA into it. No dice, still comes on. I looked at the prongs going into the connector (the long aluminum tapered things), and saw that they continued onto the bracket assembly in these zig zag patterns to the individual bulbs. I was looking for a loose wire but saw there were none. I emery boarded the bulb contact and the sides of the bulbs two posts, and at first, when I ran a test it stayed on. But after I got in and drove it, the BFWL eventually came on again.
The problem is with something where this bulb goes, or perhaps it is a bad bulb, with a loose connection. Any tips on this? Wonder if a bit of aluminum foil placed into the bulb cup would hold it in there more secure - assuming it is getting loose from driving?
In the meantime, I'm going to call a friend to see how to test for a bad bulb. Perhaps my digital multimeter can be used to test bulbs. The bulb casing seems tight. Perhaps there is an internal short or something loose in the bulb and a continuity test would reveal that (?). I'm not electrical expert so any ideas would be appreciated. Don't live close to the Volvo dealer - got to test the bulb first.

PS. Everything in the condition of the entire bracket asssembly for all the other bulbs on both sides looks the same. If I could see a difference, I would have to ask help for such a mundane problem. Ive done timing belts jobs with less frustration.
