Original Distributor Taken by Thief- Will Replacing It Be More Difficult 200 1987

Hello Our 87 240 230F had the distributor stolen. We bought a used distributor at the salvage yard. The volvo manuals give precise instructions to replace the existing distributor by marking before removal. We unfortunately must start without any marks. The pictures in the manuals look different that our distributor. We do not have a diaphram on our distributor. We do have the black connector which comes out the side of the distributor. Looking at the distributor it seems that I would line up the black connector and the rotor when inserting the distributor. The instructions make it sound like the alignment will change when i try to set the distributor into the engine. Also the instructions indicate that there are 2 TDC for #1. How can I get the right TDC. Thanks for any help
