How long does brake fluid usually last? 200 1985

It's been a little over a month since I've replaced the master cylinder (pedal sank to the floor). But now when I'm looking at the reservior the brake fluid is pretty dark. Not as dark as before, but I have no idea how long the old stuff was in there (it's the mud-like stuff the car came with).

There's a bit of pedal travel (most of the time) so I suspect there's some air, but the car stops when I need it to. I used one and a half (1L) cans of ATE DOT 4 fluid, and a MityVac to bleed the brakes. I actually had to pump the brakes a little to get fluid through one of the bleeder screws (LH rear IIRC).

Is this coloration normal? Or should I go ahead and buy some more fluid and flush again?
