just curious - what's making that whirring noise? oh - fuel guage too 140-160

not that it's a problem - seems totally normal, but i'm just wondering what makes the motor-whirring noise in my trunk area when the car is running? it's the same thing that whirs for a few seconds when i turn the ignition key to the first point, before starting the car. is it the tank fuel pump? seems awful loud, if so... just curious.

on the topic of fuel - my gas guage reads about 1/4 lower than it actually is, ie: i'll fill it up and it reads only 3/4 full. this happened on another car of mine, and i figured out that the float would get stuck and couldn't rise to the top, but, it would stay at 3/4 until i actually had 3/4 of a tank, then it would begin to drop. on my volvo, it tops out at 3/4 and drops to below the red zone even tho i still have 1/4 tank left, which rules out a "stuck float". is there some sort of calibration / setting that is off, or what? i don't know what comprises this system on this car (yet).

thx-
-daniel
