It Has to be the EFI Control unit 140-160 1973

I had a similar D-Jet ECU go bad in a VW 1600E I once unfortunately owned. It behaved like yours with the difference that the car suddenly died and never went back to normal before box replacement. It however fired up during cranking and the Bosch representative told me it was normal becuase the cold start injector worked even though the FI circuits were dead.

Bought a brand new box - for a B20E! - and had no further problems. Kept the new box and sold the car with another used one though.

Today I would have disassembled and repaired the first box because of the simple electronics involved but this was a long time ago and I just couldn't do that.
