John;
...sorry about the "bad flashbacks"...I can see how the two additional Volts from that one other cell would make a big improvement...but I did'nt know they even made 8V batteries!...actually, they probably don't as a rule, but some farmers probably talked a battery place into adding a cell...farmers are pretty resourceful people, yes they are...
When I recently helped Bill M. to do his 444 6 to 12V conversion, and he had to keep certain 6V loads (particularilly the heater blower, wiper motor not to mention the starter which got a full 12V), giving them a bit of "overvoltage" helped them perform a bit better. See: http://www.intelab.com/swem/Vintage_Volvo_6V_to12V_conversion.htm
Hey John, and all Brickboarders, I recall with a chuckle the "Funk Hierarchy" we had a while back...how about a "FH" survey...here's an Idea: List your order of Volvo vehicles in order of funk value! Include Pix and/or links too! I'll compile results and post on SwEm site (if they throw this off the technical forum, then please suggest a better place for it - which everyone will see!). Here's mine funk barometer:
Maximum Funk
1. Jacob
2. Tracktor see: http://www.intelab.com/swem/funk_hierarchy.htm
3. PV51 See: http://home.swipnet.se/Tpsk/Volvo.html ...where Al Capone?
4. TP21 ...the yellow one with the surfboard!
5. P1900 ...no explanation required.
6. 444 ... specially the ones with the little roof mounted spaceship directional signal!
7. Duett ...ivory/red two tone
8. Amazon ...preferably in Swedish Police livery
9. 1800 ...Irv's!
10. 140 ...square when everybody else was round.
Newer models have minimal funk IMO. Did I forget any funkful models?
Cheers
