Opening Ignition Switch (Electrical Part) 200 1982

I got the thing open thanks to Art's post, only to find things looking fine. Cleaned up the contacts, put it back in, and the solenoid still doesn't open for starting. Called GAPA and got the new one on the way.

Looks like my last minute "heroic surgery" (haha, Robert!) just wasn't enough.

Just to confirm, for people searching on this same subject in the future - use a flathead screwdriver to pry open the little indentations on the metal (4 of em). Pull apart. To hold it back together, either re-crimp those metal things, glue it, or use a hose clamp like I did.

Thanks for the help guys! I guess spending more money was unavoidable.

Mike
