Performance Problem? 700 1988

I know this will sound crazy and is illogical but I have to say, I think my 745 Turbo has been running a lot better and getting better mileage using 87 octane instead of the 91 octane I usually run. I have read other posts here and they all say the opposite which seems far more reasonable.

So then my question is, is there any way this could be true. Could I have an ignition problem or my engine running too rich? Overall my mileage seems to be a lot lower (using 91 octane) then what others post here (19-20 mpg) and my performance is no where near that of my 850 turbo.

So honestly, I am positive that performance has really been good the past week on 87 octane so I am hoping that this information may give clues as to something that may be wrong with my car....

Thoughts?
