Parts Prices Questions 200 1981

Why would an intake manifold gasket for my car cost $25.oo at the Volvo dealer and $3.50 for an Elring gasket at Groton? Why would a flame trap kit cost $13.00 at the dealer and $2.00 on the web. Or injector seals: $1.25 at the dealer and $.25 on the web? What's the deal here? Are these products any better through the dealer? When is it typically worth buying at the dealer or at least buying "genuine Volvo parts." I'd really be interested in comments on this. I was blown away when I discovered some of these figures. I mean a little more at the dealer is one thing, but four, five and six times as much???
