740 cold start problem 700 1985

You may wabt to thoroughly examine your turbo hoses ans assorted vacuum lines for cracks which are leaking unmetered air after the AMM.

I just reassembled my '89 740 turbo engine intake system and see that I need to re-do the "U" shaped hose which fits to the underside of the bypass vacuum control valve at the very front of the engine. The hose is crooked on the port there and I get no boost when I rev the engine.

It also gives me the same cold cranking troubles as you have. Furthermore, when I rev, instead of turbo boost, the engine suddenly chokes to a stop.
