calculating road speed based on tire size and gear ratios

hi folks, i was bored today and also wanted to know which rear end i had (3.73 or 4.10) on my brick so i decided to figure it out using the gear ratios and the road speeds that i knew from driving.

well, after tooling around with a bunch of numbers in notepad, i got sick of it and popped open a copy of excel and made a nice spreadsheet.

if you are interested, download the spreadsheet and plug in your own numbers. the whole sheet works by using formulas.

included is also a useful tire size and road speed calculator.

http://www.crimetank.com/misc/carstuff.xls you can right click on the link and do a "save as" if you want to keep it.

oh, by using this i was able to determine i have the 4.10 differential.
