Koffee brake Q: ATE or GIRLING? 200 1981

Good morning,

Newest in stable of 240s is an '81 244. Had the rear end up recently, saw familiar ATE calipers staring me in the face.

245 from '83 also has ATEs in the rear. Never heard of/seen Girlings back there, maybe they didn't have a two piston model?

But I swear, in my trepidation to jack up the '81 in the front as it's freezing rain out, I see ATE calipers (recognize the anti-rattle springs) in front via quick eyeball view.

Could this be? The 83 245 has Girling calipers in front.

Would appreciate any history of Volvos sourcing of these calipers, had 140s in old daze and all 4 kals. where ATE.

If I need rebuilds ever, are 140 (160?) and 240(260? 700?) calipers interchangeable?

TIA and regards--Frank
