rear axle speedometer sensor removal 700 1992

I am thinking of removing the rear axle speedometer sensor to clean the electrical contacts and to check the wiring, to see if that fixes my jumpy speedo needle problem.

My question is, Is this just a simple remove and replace procedure or do I have to be extra careful with removal because parts come apart?

Any hints on this matter are really appreciated. Thanks
