What can I do to make more power? (1988 740 turbo) 700

I have an 1988 740 Turbo Wagon. It's automatic, and has 186K on it. Far as I can tell the turbo is ok, and its running around the proper stock boost levels. I was wondering what (affordable, IE Cheap) mods I can do to get more power. I read in the FAQ about shortening the wastegate rod, but it warns you that it might not do anything because the knock sensor would negate it. How much is this Turbo + kit? Is it worth it? What else can I do get more power? Thanks all! ;)
