Hey,
Recently I decided I wanted to replace all the speakers and the Stereo Deck in my 1989 Volvo 240 DL. I had no problem replacing the speakers in the rear, that was a simple job. I next tried to replace the speakers in the front doors but came to a problem. The wires seem to be old and have gone bad because even with the new speakers the audio works very sparatically.
So now I have decided to run new speaker wires for the front speakers. I traced them and this is what I have come up with, (driver's side). The wires leave the speaker, go down into the door and through the plastic springly thing inbetween the door and the chasis. After they pass through the plastic thing I can't find them again. They seem to go directly behind where all the fuses are but I can't see them. I'm afaid they go into the chasis there that is behind where are the fuses are and dont come out until up behind the steering wheel. Can anyone explain to me how I can run new speaker wires for my car?
My other problem is getting the rear speakers to work with the new CD-Deck. Unfortunately the speaker wires go into an AMP that is attached to the chasis behind the glove box. Can I cut the wires going into the AMP and bring them up to the new stereo? The only thing I'm worried about is that with the front speakers the negative wires dont come up to the stereo, I think they are attached to the chasis or spliced into the voltage ground. I'm worried the rear speaker negative wires are the same. Should I run new wire for the rear speakers? And if so, how?
Thanks!
All your help is greatly appreciated.
