The seller claims the car is a 1967 Canadian made 123GT. He also claims that the 123GT was produced only in 1967. Perhaps he meant the 123GT was produced in Canada only in 1967, but that is not what he wrote.
Anyone who has studied the 123GT knows that there were 1967, 1968, 1969, and a few 1970 models produced. Perhaps the confusion stems from the fact that those cars produced in Europe after 1 Jan 1968 did not meet the US environmental and safety regulations.
The seller is asking big bucks ($12,000…..and the reserve has not been met), but the car looks great and it appears to be a genuine 123GT. The only thing I see missing are the fog lights and fender mirrors, but perhaps those were not part of the 123GT model. I also note that the 123GT badge on the trunk is mounted on the wrong side.
The color of the car is a dark blue. As far as I know, the 123GT was only produced in dark green, red, and white. The seller also states that the interior is a dark red, but the photos look like the golden brown (Color Code 425-552) that was produced in 1967-68.
Can anyone tell me more about the 123GT cars produced in Canada? I am not interested in bidding on the car since I already have my 123GT “dream car”, but I am curious and want to lean more about the Canadian produced cars. Thanks for your help.
