Making a turbo engine last as long as a NA?

Synthetic oil and regular coolant changes will vastly improve the lifetime of turbos. Fresh coolant will limit corrosion and keep your head gasket (which is under more stress in a turbo) in good shape. Use distilled water with the coolant.

For the record, you can rebuild a turbo for around $350. I just did this on my kid's 944 and the time to remove was perhaps thirty minutes.
