fuel system problems 200 1983

Jerry Bob,

Yes, Steve Seekins knows volumes. My impression was the the check valve comes with the pump, though it can be replaced seperately. If you have replaced the pump, then you shouldn't have a problme with that.

If the car is still making lots of noise, I would like to recommend that you check to make sure the hoses are in good condition. They can deteriorate and chunks break loose to clog the fuel system up. Also, the pump can actually make noise as the pressure regulaotr begins to go bad.

As for the surging during cold start, it is most likely after all this time the cold pressure regulator has gone bad. They do, and while one cannot complain after 20 years, it is expensive, so dissapointing. However, if you seriously expect to keep the car, it is worth replacing. As usual, check for all sorts of vacuum leaks.

Good luck.
